Promoting Clean Sport Campaigning through Community and Stakeholder Engagement

Cyprus Anti-Doping Authority and the other partners of the European Week of Clean Sport (EWCS) project successfully held the EWCS Stakeholder Engagement Workshop and the Conference “Clean Sport through Community Engagement on 2-3 December 2024 in Limassol, Cyprus.

The EWCS Stakeholder Engagement Workshop involved National Anti-Doping Organisations (NADOs) from nine countries and presented how the EWCS Campaign was conceptualised, developed, implemented, and evaluated in 4 different European countries in April 2024. The EWCS consortium partners presented how the Campaign was successfully implemented in four European Countries, emphasising four key themes:

  • Anti-doping in Grassroots Sport
  • Community Engagement in Clean Sport
  • Clean Sport Values in Every Classroom
  • Inclusive Clean Sport

The Conference “Clean Sport through Community Engagement included a keynote talk by Dr Fredrik Lauritzen, Science Director, Anti-Doping Norway, on doping use in recreational sport settings and related preventive measures in Europe. Presentations were also given by Mrs Kirsty Cockburn, Director of Communications, UK Anti-Doping and Mrs Mariam Diaby, Head of Digital Marketing, World Anti-Doping Agency.

The Conference also included interactive workshops and presentations by the EWCS consortium partners, and emphasised the synergies and steps needed to ensure the long-term sustainability and continuation of the EWCS Campaign. Attending NADOs were invited to join the EWCS Campaign and consider implementing it in 2025.
